Warsaw Institute of Electron Technology (Instytut Technologii Elektronowej, ITE) joined the consortium Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials CEZAMAT. Until now, the consortium members were eight renowned research centres, including four institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
CEZAMAT is a research and implementation centre formed by leading Polish scientific institutions: universities, institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences and research institutes. Its purpose is to integrate the scientific research on perspective materials and technologies and enable joint scientific research and development and implementation at the highest level.
Among the consortium members were so far: Institute of Physical Chemistry, Institute of Physics, Institute of High Pressure Physics and Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Institute of Electronic Materials Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, University of Warsaw and the Military University of Technology.
Operating since 1966, the Institute of Electron Technology, the new member of CEZAMAT, is a leading research institute in the field of semiconductor micro and nanotechnology. It carries out research in the field of electronics and solid state physics. Researchers working at the institute develop, implement and disseminate innovative solutions in micro-and nanoelectronics and photonics.
"ITE, which since its inception has been developing new semiconductor technologies and device structures for the needs of the economy, will bring many years of experience in this field to the consortium" - said the director of the Institute, Zbigniew Poznański. "I am delighted to see that CEZAMAT recognizes these lines of research as strategically important" - he added.
CEZAMAT’s VP for Research, Prof. Romuald B. Beck noted that the purpose of both ITE and is conducting research on a global level and the development of advanced semiconductor technologies used in innovative products. "Combining the strengths of both institutions will certainly contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of Polish science and economy" - he emphasised.
The EU-funded CEZAMAT project the construction of a laboratory complex with unique research equipment, to which access will be open to academics, doctoral students and students, as well as Polish and foreign entrepreneurs interested in R&D cooperation. The heart of CEZAMAT will be the Central Laboratory built at Poleczki street, on a plot belonging to the main beneficiary of the project - Warsaw University of Technology.
