We know the finalists of Science Populariser 2015

We now know the 21 finalists of Science Populariser 2015. They have been selected in the first stage of the competition by the members of the jury. For this group, the jury will select the winners in each category - the winners will be announced on December 17, during the competition gala at the Ministry of Science in Warsaw.

This edition saw record interest in the competition - we received 101 entries.

Prizes will be awarded in four basic categories: Individual populariser (scientists and popularisation animators will be awarded in separate subcategories); Scientific institution; Non-scientific institution, and Media. The competition jury may also grant an additional special award.

Two prizes will also be awarded in the following categories: Science on the Internet for online popularising activity and the Popularisation Sponsor for a person or company who financially supports the popularisation activity.

Like every year, the editorial staff of PAP - Science and Scholarship in Poland will additionally grant special Tomasz Trzciński Award for the benchmark information policy.

In this year\'s 11th edition of Science Populariser, the most popular category was Individual populariser - Scientist, in which there were 39 candidates.

Members of the jury read the profiles of all candidates and in a remote vote selected a maximum of three candidates in each category. In the finals, in each category the nominees who have received the most votes will compete for the award - a total of 21 entries. Final decisions on who in this group will win awards and distinctions, will be taken by the members of the jury at a meeting in Warsaw.

The competition gala, during which this year’s Science Populariser winners will be announced, will be held on December 17 at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The competition "Science Populariser" is organised by PAP - Science and Scholarship in Poland of the Polish Press Agency in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education It awards individuals and institutions who help others better understand the world, and are able to interest individuals not associated with science in scientific developments.

Profiles of finalists in the main categories will be presented from Wednesday, November 18, in PAP - Science and Scholarship in Poland.

The competition "Science Populariser", organised by PAP - Science and Scholarship in Poland of the Polish Press Agency and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, is the oldest and most prestigious competition in Poland, which awards scholars, media people, institutions and social activists, whose passion is to share knowledge and uncover the mysteries of modern science in a manner accessible to everyone . The first competition was held in 2005.

Previous winners of the competition include: co-founder of the Warsaw Science Festival, Prof. Magdalena Fikus, author of popular science television programs ed. Wiktor Niedzicki, archaeologist Prof. Andrzej Kokowski, as well as institutions such as the Copernicus Science Centre, Polish Academy of Kids and the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology.
