Prof. Jajszczyk on the Science Europe Governing Board

Director of the National Science Centre, Prof. Andrzej Jajszczyk became a member of the Governing Board of the international organization Science Europe. The Board decides on the strategic direction of the organization, as well as oversees its implementation.

Science Europe (SE) is an association of more than fifty research funding and research performing organizations and, in twenty-five European countries. The aim of the organization is primarily to strengthen the European Research Area by strengthening cooperation between member institutions. The National Science Centre is a member of the SE since June 2012.

Science Europe General Assembly unanimously elected director of the National Science Centre, Prof. Andrzej Jajszczyk a member of the Science Europe Governing Board. The Governing Board of the SE is comprised of the heads of member organizations. Elected together with Prof. Jajszczyk were Prof. Jane Elliott - Head of the British Economic and Social Research Council and Prof. Michael Matlosz - President of the French National Research Agency.

One of the objectives of Science Europe is to represent the needs of the scientific community in Europe and increase the influence of scientists on shaping the pan-European research strategies. The organization also seeks to deepen cooperation with non-European institutions that support science and searches for solutions that will allow publicly funded research to contribute to the development of economy and society. Science Europe cooperates closely with the European Research Council (ERC), universities, academies of science, European intergovernmental scientific organizations, as well as the European Commission in order to build a common European Research Area.
