During the research and conservation works of the Veit Stoss altarpiece in St. Mary`s Basilica in Kraków, the date 1486 was found and read on the side of one of the figures - St. Jakub the apostle, supporting the sleeping Mary.
A fragment of one of the earliest stone buildings in Poland was discovered on Lech Hill in Gniezno during excavations as part of the project "Palatium Expedition. Gniezno 2019". The structure dated to the 10th/11th century could be part of the residence of the first Polish rulers.
At the Tel Erani site in Israel, Kraków archaeologists unearthed a structure and objects that may indicate that Tel Erani was one of the first places in the region that the Egyptians had reached. They also estimated that the wall discovered a year ago was over 5,300 years old.
Polish researchers discovered more than 90 graves, including ones from the Middle Ages, during excavations in Libkovice (the Czech Republic). On some remains, they found traces of rare Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease. In a few years, the area of the former village and the cemetery will be destroyed by a brown coal mine.
