Institute of Systematics and Evolution of Animals PAS with the prestigious HR Excellence in Research badge

Institute of Systematics and Evolution of Animals of the Polish Academy of Sciences received the prestigious badge "HR Excellence in Research", awarded by the European Commission to institutions that meet European standards in scientific research and the recruitment of researchers.

The European Commission awards the HR Excellence in Research logo to research institutions that apply the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, creating a friendly environment for work and development. The institutions that receive the logo commit to creating the best working, development and career conditions and to apply transparent procedures for the recruitment of researchers.

Institute of Systematics and Evolution of Animals of the Polish Academy of Sciences is the seventeenth institution in Poland, which received the badge HR Excellence in Research. "On 01.10.2015, the then director of the Institute Prof. Zbigniew M. Bochenski signed a declaration of support of the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct. Only seven months later, the Institute of Systematics and Evolution of Animals received the right to use the logo" - reported the representatives of the institute.

The logo was awarded earlier to the following Polish institutions: the Institute of Psychology PAS in Warsaw and the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital Research Institute in Łódź, the University of Gdańsk, the Institute of Low Temperature and Structural Research in Wrocław, the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development in Warsaw, the Institute of Electron Technology in Warsaw and the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation in Puławy, the Institute of Agrophysics PAS in Lublin, Wrocław Research Centre EIT+, the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS, the Institute of Physics PAS, the Institute of Plant Genetics PAS, the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Nicholas Copernicus University and the Foundation for Polish Science.

The Human Resources Excellence in Research logo is one of the European Commission activities in the framework of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, aimed at increasing the attractiveness of researchers\' working conditions in the European Union. These activities are expected to contribute to increasing the number of scientific personnel in the European institutions. The EC supports the institutions that apply the principles of the European Charter and Code by organizing meetings and discussions with the institutions involved. It also promotes such institutions among international organizations and scientists as those that provide the best working and development conditions for researchers.

The HR Excellence in Research logo is not granted for an indefinite period. Every two years, the institutions which use it are evaluated by the European Commission. If irregularities are found, the right to use the logo may be revoked.
