The 30th edition of Shell Eco-marathon took place on a street circuit in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The event attracted more than 3 thousand students from nearly 200 teams representing 27 countries. Their task was to design , build and test energy efficient vehicles. The winning teem covered the longest distance on an of one litre of fuel.

They drove 468.85 km on one litre of fuel. Second place went to the team from the Vehicle Aerodynamics Student Club at Warsaw University of Technology. According to the competition rules, for a few days (15-18 May), the teams have been trying to travel the longest possible route on an equivalent of one litre of fuel. Cars they designed and manufactured performed a fixed number of laps around the track at a constant speed, and the organizers calculated the energy efficiency of each vehicle. Prizes were awarded to teams that travelled the greatest distance on an equivalent of one litre of fuel or one kilowatt-hour.

Shell Eco-marathon is held every year in Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
