Debut production of the Heavens of Copernicus won the prestigious Janus award

"Dream to fly," the first production of the planetarium Heavens of Copernicus received the Janus award at the FullDome Festival in the German city of Jena, reported Katarzyna Nowicka of the Copernicus Science Centre.

FullDome Festival in is one of the three world\'s most important and prestigious events in the planetarium industry. 30 movies were submitted for this year\'s edition of the event. Among the winners was the debut production of the Heavens of Copernicus.

"The organisers acknowledged its originality and innovativeness in the use of space of the huge spherical screen. The film was also received well by the producers from the planetarium industry. According to one of them, +Dream to fly+ may become a breakthrough to fulldome movies and establish a new direction of development" - said Katarzyna Nowicka.

"Dream to Fly" is the first Polish production in the fulldome technology, which enables video projection on a spherical screen that surrounds the audience from all sides. The film introduces viewers to the history of aviation, allowing to experience a balloon or airship flight.

The Heavens of Copernicus film studio worked on this pioneering project for two years. The result was over half an hour of video production in 4000x4000 pixel resolution, twice as high as in the cinema. Music for the movie was composed by Michał Lorenc, and commentary was delivered by Danuta Stenka.
