Professors Daniel Gryko - chemist, Krzysztof Pomian - humanist, Andrzej Trautman - physicist and Piotr Trzonkowski - immunologist are the winners of the 26th edition of the Foundation for Polish Science Prize. Awards will be presented on 6th December at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
Six Polish women researchers received L’Oréal-UNESCO fellowships for Women in Science on Wednesday. The laureates represent a wide range of disciplines, from chemistry, through math and biotechnology to psychology" - said the jury chairwoman, Prof. Ewa Łojkowska.
Two student teams from Gdańsk University of Technology qualified for the world finals of the programming competition NASA Space Apps Challenge. One of the projects is also nominated for an audience award. Internet users can vote for it until May 21st.
Three gold and two silver medals and special prizes were awarded to Polish scientists during the 20th Moscow International Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies "Archimedes 2017". Nearly 800 inventions from 18 countries were presented at the event.
Outstanding specialist in the field of earth sciences, Prof. Jean Poesen from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, received honorary doctorate of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, awarded for his achievements in the field of physical geography, geomorphology and soil science.
