Pole on Wikimedia international financial committee

Dariusz Jemielniak, the professor of the Leon Kozminski\'s Academy is one of nine members of Wikimedia international financial committee. He will co-decide about the selection of prgrammes and financing foundations\' key projects.

"As the member of the financial committee I will co-decide about the selection of programmes promoting the implementation of the foundation strategic goals for 2012-2015. These are ambitious goals as they provide for reaching one billion Wikipedia users and 50 million articles as well as increasing the number of active editors to 200,000, Dariusz Jemielniak told PAP.

The most important Wikimedia project is 10-year-old Wikipedia, multi-language internet encyclopedia ensuring free access without advertising but being supported by donations. Its annual budget stands at some 35 million USD.

Jemielniak told PAP the foundation would like to increase the activity of national associations and to "open south" which means global opening to Africa and Latin America, increase the number of female editors.

Dariusz Jemielniak also heads CROW (Center for Research on Organizations and Workplaces). He specialises in IT support for management, open-source and crowd sourcing. Jemielniak is the member of the Copernicus Science Centre, the author of ling.pl language and webmaster of the Polish Wikipedia.
