Faculty of Economics and Management of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń earned the prestigious AACSB business accreditation. Nicolaus Copernicus University is the first and only public university in Poland, which can boast this distinction.

AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) is the longest serving global organization accrediting higher education institutions with economics, management, finance and accounting programs at the bachelor\'s, master\'s, and doctoral level. In 2016, it will celebrate its 100th anniversary. The symbol "AACSB Accredited" is a globally recognized symbol of quality, indicating that the educational institution meets the highest standards.

"AACSB Accreditation is very highly appreciated both on the international educational market and in the business community" - informs the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Currently, accreditation holders are less than 5 percent of all business schools in the world: a total of 740 institutions in 50 countries, including such prestigious universities as Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale University, London Business School, HEC School of Management (Paris) and Instituto de Empresa (IE) Business School. The only other Polish university awarded the accreditation is Kozminski University in Warsaw.

Since the very beginning, the concept of activity of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń included scientific research and teaching in the field of economics. Hence, one of the four faculties of the University established in late 1945 was named the Faculty of Law and Economics. However, because of the lack of specialists, the Toruń university launched economic studies only in 1968. Then the Minister of Education established the Institute of Economics at Nicolaus Copernicus University, functioning with the rights of a faculty. In the beginning of the academic year 1968-1969, the Institute of Economics employed 22 academics. The Institute also accepted the first 66 students. In January 1993, the Nicolaus Copernicus University Senate changed the name of the faculty to Faculty of Economics and Management, adapting it to the changing directions of scientific research and educational programs.

The Faculty of Economics and Management cooperates with domestic and foreign universities and scientific centres. Together with Dominican University in Chicago it offers the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program, accredited by the prestigious American institutions: the North Central Association of Colleges (NCA) and The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). It has cooperation agreements with many foreign universities including Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham Hull (England), University of Angers (France), University of Bamberg, University of Munich, University of Oldenburg and University of Rostock (Germany), National Technical University of Athens, Brno University of Technology and the Hague University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands).
