Professor Dudzińska to lead the indoor air quality organization

Professor Marzenna Dudzińska will be the President of the indoor air quality organization (ISIAQ). The official appointment will take place at the plenary meeting of ISIAQ in Philadelphia on July 24, 2018.

Professor Marzenna Dudzińska was elected President of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ) for a three-year term. She will sit on the ISIAQ Board of Directors together with 9 other members from France, Finland, US, Germany, Belgium, China, Korea and Japan.

Professor Dudzińska, Head of the Department of Indoor and Outdoor Air Quality at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Lublin University of Technology, is the first Polish woman and the second woman to lead ISIAQ. She has been active in the organization since 2011.

ISIAQ is an international, independent, multidisciplinary, scientific, non-profit organization whose purpose is to support the creation of healthy, comfortable and productivity-encouraging indoor environments. The organization reminds that we spend over 90 percent time in buildings, in an indoor environment. ISIAQ was founded in 1992 by scientists and professionals and registered in California.

The organisation`s major role is to facilitate communication and information exchange by publishing and fostering publication on indoor air quality and climate, in particular the journal Indoor Air that presents original research results.

ISIAQ organizes, sponsors and supports initiatives such as meetings, conferences, and seminars on indoor air quality and climate, including the events Indoor Air and Healthy Buildings. It also develops, adapts and maintains guidelines for the improvement of indoor air quality and climate. It cooperates with governmental and other agencies and societies with interests in the indoor environment and climate. It appoints Task Forces and prepares reports on emerging problems and new solutions, addressed to researchers, practitioners and the general public.

ISIAQ currently has approx. 800 members from over 50 countries: scientists involved in the study of indoor air quality, policy-makers setting standards and principles, doctors, construction and air conditioning engineers, architects, lawyers specializing in environmental protection.

Prof. Marzenna R. Dudzińska has been associated with the Lublin University of Technology since 1988. She conducts research on the sources, transformations and movements of pollutants in the human environment.

She is the author or co-author of numerous scientific papers and books, editor of monographs and co-author of 8 patents. She participated in research projects, including the EU Framework Programme projects; managed a few of them. She organized and is the Head of the Department of Indoor and Outdoor Air Quality (since 2006).

She develops international cooperation with several leading centres in Denmark (DTU Lyngby, Aalborg), Germany (TTZ, Bremerhaven), Switzerland (Empa, Dubendorf), Australia (Queensland University of Technology), and Italy (University of Cassino).

She serves as the Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at the Lublin University of Technology (since 2013, second term), and in 2016 she was elected president of the College of Vice-Rectors for Science and Development of public technical schools for the term 2016-2020. (PAP)
