Czech President Vaclav Klaus received the honoris causa doctorate of UKSW Catholic University in Warsaw on Thursday.

In his speech Klaus said he was disappointed with the condition of contemporary world.

"For a person like myself, who actively took part in preparing and organising radical political and economic changes in my country, the world we live in is a disappointment," he declared, adding he was referring to Europe and the West, but not to Poland or the Czech Republic.

President Bronislaw Komorowski congratulated Klaus on the doctorate and said the distinction was intended to honour both scholarly and political activities of the laureate. The Polish president also thanked Klaus for his contribution to building Polish-Czech relations.

Earlier in the day Komorowski and Klaus had a meeting followed by a joint press conference. Klaus, on an official visit to Poland in connection with the end of his second term of office, also met with Sejm and Senate Speakers Ewa Kopacz and Bogdan Borusewicz.
