Ranking: The University of Warsaw and the Jagiellonian University are the best universities in Poland

The University of Warsaw and the Jagiellonian University are in equal first place in the Ranking of Universities Perspektywy 2018. These universities scored 100 and 99.6 percent respectively in the ranking. Warsaw University of Technology took the third place.

The ranking was prepared for the 19th time by the Perspektywy Education Foundation under the supervision of the Ranking Board chaired by Prof. Michał Kleiber.

The University of Warsaw and the Jagiellonian University maintained their equal first place in the ranking of the best academic universities, which includes 94 higher education institutions. The universities scored respectively 100 percent and 99.6 percent. The Ranking Board decided that universities with similar results (differing by no more than 0.5 percent) would be ranked in equal places. Warsaw University of Technology (82.8%) maintained its third place from the previous year.

The following places went to the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (81.6%), AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (78.6%), Wrocław University of Science and Technology (75.6%), Medical University of Gdansk (66.1%) and University of Wroclaw (64.3%). Gdańsk University of Technology (61.8%) and Silesian University of Technology (61.3%) are in equal ninth place.

The Kozminski University in Warsaw (100%) is the best private university educating at the master`s level. In the following places are: SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities (76.4%), Lazarski University in Warsaw (72.2%), Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw (67.5%) and the Academy of Finance and Business Vistula in Warsaw (59.3%).

The winner of the best State Higher Vocational Schools ranking is the Pope John Paul II State School Of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska (100%). In the following places are: the Jacob of Paradies University in Gorzów Wielkopolski (93.1%), the State Higher School of Technology and Economics in Jarosław (86.3%), the President Stanisław Wojciechowski State University of Applied Sciences in Kalisz (83.8%) and the Opole Medical School (82.4%).

The Jagiellonian University Medical College is the best medical school in Poland, and the University of Life Sciences in Poznan is the best agricultural university. Warsaw University of Technology is the best technical university. The title of the best pedagogical university went to the Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa. Universities from Gdańsk, Krakow and Katowice are in equal first place among the Academies of Physical Education. Warsaw School of Economics and the Kozminski University are in equal first place among the universities of economics.

Like every year, the Ranking Board awarded special prize ADVANCEMENT 2018 to universities that recorded the biggest jump in the rankings. The Silesian University of Technology, which advanced four places (from 13 to 9), was awarded among the academic universities, while in the group of non-public universities the award went to the Humanitas University in Sosnowiec, which advanced 12 places (from 23 to 11).

The ranking was prepared on the basis of the following criteria: prestige, graduates in the labour market, innovation, scientific potential, scientific effectiveness, educational conditions, international outreach.
