National Centre for Research and Development will invest nearly 300 million zlotys in the prototypes of Polish inventions

The National Centre for Research and Development resolved the competition "Demonstrator". Out of the 137 submitted projects, selected 30 will receive more than 290 million zlotys. "This money will not be used for the development of research for the sake of research itself, these projects are expected to find applications in the economy" - said PAP Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin.

Based on the assessment of experts, the National Centre for Research and Development selected the top 30 out of 137 submitted projects. Co-financing in the amount 292 347 407.81 zlotys will be distributed among 10 large companies and 20 companies from the SME sector, including 5 small businesses. The beneficiaries\' own contribution will amount to 326 751 373.85 zlotys. With the support of National Centre for Research and Development the winners will conduct experimental research and development, as a result of which modern and innovative technologies and products are expected to be marketed.

"The teams evaluating favoured those applications which are close to commercialisation, close to applications, because the money is not intended to serve the development of imagination and research for the sake of research itself, they are expected to find applications in the economy" - emphasised Gowin. He added that the companies operating in the field of medicine, IT, robotics and automation were particularly successful.

Co-financed projects include a universal robotic production line for packaging products; temperature bonding technology for plastics including new materials; e-system to support the diagnosis and management of patients with epilepsy, and refined, ultrapure ferrosilicon chrome with controlled content of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen.

"The risk associated with research and development is considerable, but worth taking because of the spectacular results we expect in the future. Real life applications of modern solutions support Polish economy and encourage further entities that want take the results of their R&D out of laboratories. Combining science and business is a priority activity of the National Centre for Research and Development" - said the National Centre for Research and Development director Prof. Maciej Chorowski.

The National Centre for Research and Development programme "Demonstrator" is carried out under the Operational Programme Smart Development 1.1.2 "R&D of enterprises related to the preparation of a pilot/demonstration installation".
