A total of more than 3 million zlotys is waiting for the popularisers of science who will win the next edition of "Paths of Copernicus 2.0". 16 projects will be selected in the competition organized by the Ministry of Science. The call for proposals is expected to open in early 2016.

"Paths of Copernicus 2.0" is a programme prepared especially for popularisers of science. The first edition was held in 2013 and 2014.

"Our goal is to arouse even greater interest in science, encourage young people to explore its mysteries and to show local communities how scientific discoveries affect the daily life" - said Minister of Science and Higher Education Lena Kolarska-Bobińska.

In "Paths of Copernicus 2.0", as in the first edition, 16 projects will be selected, one in each province. Each project will receive up to 200 thousand zlotys financial support. The total budget for the second edition of the competition will be 3.2 million zlotys. The competition will be open to consortia formed by at least one university and one non-governmental organization or institution dedicated to popularising science.

Nearly 4 thousand people participated in the first edition of the competition - mainly middle and high school students. In its framework, high school students from Toruń learned about the historian\'s work, and the exhibition "Living Structures" was opened in Kraków. In Łódź, secondary school students participated in innovative chemistry classes, and students from Lower Silesia were dealing with the problem of light pollution.

The programme was submitted for implementation under the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development. The call for proposals is expected to open in early 2016, and the implementation of the winning projects could begin as early as September of the same year.
