Teams from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and Warsaw School of Economics were among in the world Top30 and in the Top15 in Europe this year\'s Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC) - reported Dr. Wojciech Czart from the Faculty of Physics of Adam Mickiewicz University, supervisor of one of the teams.

Both teams of students competed with more than 1,660 teams from all over the world and won the title of AdWords Business Semi-Finalist.

GOMC is one of the biggest international competitions organized for the academic community, involving thousands of student teams from around the world. Each team has the task to prepare and run a three-week promotional campaign for a selected company. Students carry out marketing efforts using Google AdWords - advanced online ad campaign management system. Participants also prepare two reports - before and after the campaign. The contest requires knowledge of online marketing, optimisation methods and strategic management. Extremely important are the soft skills associated with teamwork.

Adam Mickiewicz University students Marta Kłobukowska, Weronika Ziętek, Wojciech Odważny and Kamil Poturalski under the supervision of Dr. Wojciech Czart from the Faculty of Physics of Adam Mickiewicz University ran a promotional campaign for an online model shop Fun & Fly. The team from Warsaw School of Economics (composed of Magda Posluszny, Mateusz Łozowicki, Michał Kloczkowski, Jakub Dylewicz and Konrad Szczygieł) under the supervision of Dr. Tymoteusz Doligalski from the Faculty of Management Systems promoted the online fashion boutique MISBHV.

According to the release, both universities for years rank in the top of Google Online Marketing Challenge. Students from Warsaw School of Economics won five of the eight editions of the competition. In the years 2012 and 2014 they were global winners, beating more than 3,000 teams from all over the world. In three earlier editions they took first place in Europe, winning the title of regional winner.

In the early years of GOMC, student teams from Warsaw School of Economics participated in the competition outside the curriculum. Since last year, this takes place in the framework of subject "Marketing with the use of search engines", taught as part of the new e-Business master’s course. The course teaches designing e-business ventures, particularly in terms of business model and strategy aimed at the development of relationships with customers.

Adam Mickiewicz University students from the beginning prepare for the competition as part of the lecture "e-Commerce technologies - internet marketing", taught by Dr. Wojciech Czart at the Faculty of Physics. This lecture part of the undergraduate course Computer Technology and master\'s course Technical Applications of the Internet, which is now being transformed into a new intercollegiate course Applications of the Internet of Things, conducted jointly by the Adam Mickiewicz University and the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy of Poznań University of Economics.
