Ranking: The University of Warsaw is the best Polish university

The University of Warsaw took first place in the 20th Ranking of Universities Perspektywy 2019. The Jagiellonian University ranked second, and the Warsaw University of Technology third. Among non-public universities, the Kozminski University in Warsaw won for the 20th time.

The ranking published last week for the 20th time was prepared by the Education Foundation "Perspektywy", under the supervision of the Chapter headed by Prof. Michał Kleiber. It includes four rankings: the Ranking of Academic Universities, the Ranking of Non-public Universities, the Ranking of State Higher Vocational Schools and the Ranking of Fields of Study.

The University of Warsaw was first in the Ranking of Academic Universities, with the score of 100% in the ranking indicator. The Jagiellonian University (99.2%) ranked second, and Warsaw University of Technology third (80.1%). The fourth place went to the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków; the Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań was fifth. The sixth place was taken by the Wrocław University of Technology and the Gdańsk University of Technology was seventh. The University of Wrocław was in equal eighth place with the Medical University of Gdansk and the Lodz University of Technology. Universities, whose ranking index difference does not exceed 0.5 percentage points, are classified in the same place.

Among the economic universities, the University of Economics in Poznań ranked first; the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław turned out to be the best among agricultural universities. Two universities: Jan Dlugosz University in Częstochowa and the Pedagogical University of Cracow proved to be the best among pedagogical universities. The best academy of physical education was the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice.

The ranking covers all higher education institutions (with the exception of art colleges) that have the power to confer doctoral degree and a minimum of 200 full-time students. In the evaluation of individual universities, factors such as prestige, graduates in the labour market, innovation, scientific potential, scientific effectiveness, educational conditions and international outreach were taken into account.

In the Ranking of Non-public Universities, the Kozminski University in Warsaw won for the 20th time. The following universities were also in the top 5: SWPS University of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Lazarski University in Warsaw, the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology and the Academy of Finance and Business Vistula.

The best state higher vocational school in the ranking was the Jacob of Paradies University in Gorzów Wielkopolski. In the following places were: the Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biala Podlaska, the Opole Medical School, the Hipolit Cegielski State College of Higher Education in Gniezno and the State Higher School of Technology and Economics in Jarosław.

The last rankings (the Ranking of Fields of Study) contains information about 68 fields of study (including engineering), concentrated in seven areas.
