Space enthusiasts will meet in May in Warsaw and Kraków at this year`s edition of the international Act In Space hackathon. Participants will have 24 hours to come up with, design and present a product or service based on space technology.

Act In Space will take place on 25-26 May in over 70 cities in 34 countries. In Poland it will be held in Warsaw and Kraków.

The project challenges and technology descriptions have been prepared jointly by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the French Space Agency (CNES), the organizers of Act In Space Warsaw inform.

Act In Space is a space technology hackathon, during which participants have 24 hours to come up with, design and present a product or service based on space technology. The event is addressed to students, entrepreneurs, engineers and all enthusiasts of the space sector.

According to the organizers, it is a great opportunity to come up with an idea for a space sector company.

Participants of the Warsaw hackathon will meet at Brain Embassy. The organizers of the event are Kapitech, SpaceHUB and Brain Embassy. The Kraków edition will take place in the Kraków Technology Park. According to the organizers, challenges related to the processing of satellite data will be particularly important.

The initiators of the international contest are ESA and CNES. The best teams will compete in the national finals, and then in the international Act In Space finals on 27 June at the Toulouse Space Show in France.

One of the awards in the world finals will be a flight on the Airbus A310. The machine is adapted for parabolic Zero-G flights, during which the state of weightlessness experienced by space astronauts is simulated. In 2016, the winners of the Warsaw edition of the hackathon won the world finals and experienced the Zero-G flight.

In addition, the teams competing in this year`s Warsaw edition will also have an opportunity to compete for the ESA BIC (Warsaw) accelerator, which is scheduled to open in 2019.
