According to the Foundation`s release sent to PAP, the purpose of the Engineering Study Ranking is to promote the best practices in educating staff for the high technology industry, help young people choose an educational path and build links between the academic world, industry and business.

The jury was chaired by Prof. Michał Kleiber. The members of the jury included experts in the field of higher education as well as representatives of various branches of industry.

The jury evaluated the 21 most popular technical courses. In this year`s edition, the following universities had the largest number of faculties in the top three of each discipline: Warsaw University of Technology (21), AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (17), Wrocław University of Science and Technology (10) and Silesian University of Technology (5). According to the foundation, the faculties of the Military University of Technology, Cracow University of Technology, West Pomeranian University of Technology and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń were also in the top of the ranking.

The ranking shows that Warsaw University of Technology offers the best courses in 10 fields: architecture, biotechnology, energy, technical physics, geodesy and cartography, chemical and process engineering, material engineering, information technology, chemical technology and transport.

AGH University of Science and Technology has the best courses in eight fields: automation and robotics, electrical engineering, electronics and telecommunications, mining and geology, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, production management and engineering.

According to the organizers, the results of the ranking are addressed primarily to this year`s high school graduates, who will soon be choosing universities and fields of study.

"We want to help young people make a good choice of the field of study in the area of technical disciplines, needed by the economy and giving good employment and salary prospects" - declares President of the Education Foundation Perspektywy and originator of the Engineering Study Ranking Waldemar Siwiński, quoted in the release.

The jury used several indicators to evaluate faculties. They included the careers of graduates, the number of patents or implementations, availability of highly qualified staff for students.
